From Fanø to the Falkland Islands

Sixtus is the largest ship that has ever been based in Fanø, and one of the fastest in its class in the entire world. Sixtus ran aground and was wrecked in 1905 on a rock at Volunteer Point in the Falkland Islands. To this day, the rock is called Sixtus Rock.

The figurehead of the Sixtus was salvaged and now hangs on the building of the Shipping and Costume Collection in Nordby, facing the water.

Sixtus is a blend of an Imperial Stout from rum casks and a Barley Wine from sherry casks. The beer has a lovely warmth from the barrel aging, which also gives the beer a good balance of the stout's chocolate flavor and the malt notes from the barrel-aged barley wine.
